Party Pig shaker card

Here is a sneak peek of stamp sets that will be available in May. I love the Party Pig stamp and die set. Look at the adorable shaker elements that coordinate with this set. This is a fun easy shaker card.

Supplies used

Ink: Momento Black (132708) and Smokey Slate (147113)

Stampin’ Blends: light and dark Smokey Slate (154904), light and dark Bubble Bath (161675) and light (159465)

Paper: Bubble Bath (161718) and white (166780) card stock. Window sheet (142314)

Accessories: Stamp, Cut and Emboss machine and Specialty plate(149653), Plaster Painting 3D embossing folder  (164656), Party Pig dies  (165482- bundle 165483), Bone folder (10230), Foam Adhesive sheets (141825), Tear & Tape (154031), Loose Shaker Elements (165268), Blending brush (153611), 2” circle punch (133782), Multipurpose liquid glue (110755), mini Stampin’ Dimensionals (144108), Sponge daubers (133773), Paper trimmer (152392), Paper snips (103579), clear stamp blocks (165674 bundle -or you can purchase individually)

Cutting instructions:

Bubble Gath card stock:  card base 8 ½ x 5 ½” scored at 4 ¼”, scrap-die cut 1 ¾” circle

White card stock:  4” x 5 ¼” -inside, 3” x 4 ½” pig head and body, small scrap – for flags and sentiment

Window Sheet – scrap to cut 2” circle

Assembly instructions:

1. Cut card base (8 ½ x 5 ½”) out of Bubble Bath, scoring at 4 ¼”. Cut a 4” x 5 ¼” white front panel and emboss with the Painted Plaster 3D embossing folder using the Stamp Cut and Emboss machine and the gray specialty plate. Using a blending brush and Smokey Slate ink pad rub ink all over embossed panel to give it a dirty look.  Attach to card front using multi purpose liquid glue.

2. Stamp Pig head, body and flags on white cardstock. Color with the light and dark Bubble Bath and Smokey Slate Stampin’ Blends. I colored the hoofs with the dark Smokey Slate and the spots with the light. The inside of the ear color with a light Stampin’ blend. Die cut all pieces, adding the circle in the body with die cutting. Note: add a light tack tape to make sure circle stays centered in the pig’s body. Punch a circle out of window sheet and a piece of Bubble Bath cardstock using the 2 inch circle punch.

3. Add tear tape all around the die cut out circle in the pig’s body on the back side. Remove backing and attach window sheet circle. Add Foam Adhesive strips around the circle. The foam strips bend well to make a circle. Make sure that your seam is tight so none of the Loose Shaker Elements can fall out. Add the Loose Shaker Elements before you remove backing. Remove backing and adhere Bubble Bath circle to foam tape, making sure to cover all the tape, so none of the shaker elements can come out. The window sheet and Bubble Bath circles are larger than the circle in the pig’s body to make these steps easier, but still small enough to fit inside the pig’s body.

4. Glue pigs heat to pig’s body, only adding glue when the head and body meet. Add a couple of strips of Foam adhesive strips to pig’s head, remove backing. Add Multipurpose liquid glue to Bubble Bath circle and adhere to card. Add two mini Stampin’ dimensionals to flags. Add a small dab of liquid glue to poles on the front side. Remove backing from dimensionals and add flags to card, pressing the flag poles to the back of the pig’s hoof.

5. Stamp sentiment using Memento black ink, dog ear the ends and sponge around the entire sentiment strip with a sponge dauber. Adhere to card tucking the left side under the pig.

6. Stamp party flags on the bottom right side of inside panel, color with blends and adhere to inside of card. Stamp additional sentiment if desired.

7. Stamp party flags from the stamp set on the bottom left side of envelope or on the back flap. Your card is ready to send to a lucky recipient.

Sunrise sailing and Tags to Go, You're going places card.

Todays card features two new stamp sets available in May. I just could not resist the “You’re going places” sentiment from the Tags to Go set with the Sunrise Sailing stamp set, dies and embossing folder.

One thing I did that you might not expect is I used the Birchwood embossing folder on the Night of Navy for my waves. The reason is I embossed the Pool Party half circle with the Sunrise Sailing embossing folder. The lines in it a fairly straight. Although I love the Soft Waves and so swirly for Beach or water cards in this case I needed straighter water lines and the Birchwood work perfectly. Another fun thing I did was die cut the clouds from the die set and even though they did not fit the clouds in the embossing folder I embossed them on the embossing folders clouds anyway. I think they turned out pretty cool. Sometimes you just have to think outside the box. You just may be pleased with the result.

Impressions Abloom peek through opening

This card features the Impressions Abloom stamp and die set. Besides the flowers and leaves you get cool dies like featured here. One cuts out the front of the card and the second makes the awesome stitched oval frame. Also check out the flower centers. There is a die included in the set that cuts out the circles for the flower center. Then one that doesn't cut but pierces the paper. Such a awesome stamp and die set that I'm sure you will want to add to your stash. The sentiment comes from the Sentimental Framing stamp set also available in May.

This photo shows that the sentiment is actually on the inside of the card.

Tulips in archway card

I saw where someone, don’t remember who made a frame with the arches and put the tulips. Then I saw a card where they used the arches with the tulips and black and white designer series paper. Since tulips and daisies are my two favorite flowers and I love, love black and white cards I decided to combine the two cards and this is what I came up with. I just love it with the new Botanical textiles paper.

Paper: Highland Heather (146986) and White (166780) card stock. Botanical textiles designer series paper (165545)

Accessories: Stamp, Cut and Emboss machine (149653) , Mixed Floral Dies, Everyday Arches dies (164629 – bundle available) , Bone folder (10230), Exposed Brick 3d embossing folder (161600) , Specialty plate (included with Stamp, Cut and Emboss machine), Foam Adhesive strips (141825), Sponge daubers (133773), Blending brush (153611 or small 160518), Multipurpose liquid glue (110755), Paper trimmer (152392), Paper snips (103579)

Cutting instructions:

Highland Heather cardstock:  card base 5 ½” x 8 1/2” scored at 4 1/4”

White cardstock: cut two 3 ¼” x 4 (arches), 3 ½” x 5” (tulip) and 4” x 5 ¼” (inside)

Botanical textiles designer series paper:  4” x 5 ¼” and ¾” x 4”

Assembly instructions:

Cut card base out of Highland Heather cardstock 5 ½” x 8 1/2” scored at 4 1/4” and burnish using a bone folder. Using a sponge dauber ink all the front edges.

Ink all the edges of your designer paper and glue to front of card base.

Die cut an arch using the fourth largest die and emboss this piece using the Exposed Brick 3d embossing folder.

Die cut another arch using the fourth largest die with the next size smaller inside. Tape both dies to paper to make sure they do not shift when die cutting.

Using a blender brush lightly sponge over all the arches with Smokey Slate ink. You want to sponge very lightly as you only want to dirty up the dies (adding very little ink).

Glue embossed arch to designer paper. Add Foam Adhesive tape all around the arched frame making the bottom a separate piece. Remove tape from arch leaving the tape on the bottom (straight part) and add to card front lining up with embossed arch.

Stamp tulip stamp using Momento Black ink. Color in using the light and dark Highland Heather, Petal Pink and Old Olive Stampin’ Blends. Use dark blend to add shadows and light to fill in. I also add the dark blend to the bottom of the flowers and wherever a leaf or petal would cause a shadow. Die cut using coordinating die. Add foam adhesive tape just at the top of flowers, making sure not to add to close to the top or sides that will sit on top of the arched frame. Tuck bottom under arch and with a pencil mark what sits below the frame. Using your paper snips cut off at pencil line. Tuck back under making sure none shows below the arch and remove tape from flower and bottom (straight portion) of the arch.

Glue embossed brick 4” x 5 ¼” panel to inside of the card. Stamp sentiment on arch cut out from the frame. I used the birthday stamp from the Unbounded Love stamp set and Momento Black ink. Sponge around the edges using a sponge dauber and Momento black ink.

Sponge all edges of the ¾” piece of designer paper and glue to bottom of embossed panel. Glue stamped arch just above the designer paper.

Add a piece of designer paper to the back flap of your envelope if desired.  Your card is ready to send to a lucky recipient.
