Todays card features two new stamp sets available in May. I just could not resist the “You’re going places” sentiment from the Tags to Go set with the Sunrise Sailing stamp set, dies and embossing folder.
One thing I did that you might not expect is I used the Birchwood embossing folder on the Night of Navy for my waves. The reason is I embossed the Pool Party half circle with the Sunrise Sailing embossing folder. The lines in it a fairly straight. Although I love the Soft Waves and so swirly for Beach or water cards in this case I needed straighter water lines and the Birchwood work perfectly. Another fun thing I did was die cut the clouds from the die set and even though they did not fit the clouds in the embossing folder I embossed them on the embossing folders clouds anyway. I think they turned out pretty cool. Sometimes you just have to think outside the box. You just may be pleased with the result.

White card
stock: 4” x 5 ¼” -inside, 3 ¼” x 3 ¼”- die cut circle, small scraps –
for clouds, seagulls and sentiment
Watercolor paper:
two small and one large sailboat die cuts
Assembly
instructions:
1. Cut card
base (8 ½ x 5 ½”) out of Night of Navy, scoring at 4 ¼”. Cut a 4” x 5 ¼” front
panel and emboss with the Birch Wood 3D embossing folder using the Stamp Cut and
Emboss machine and gray specialty plate. Attach to card front using Multi purpose
liquid glue.
2. Die cut
white circle using the 3” round Stylish Shapes die. Die cut half a circle using
Pool Party two tone cardstock. Emboss the two tone paper on the bottom (water) part
and sand to reveal white core. Using a paint brush or water pen and either a
Balmy Blue ink pad (squeezed to get ink on inside lid) or one or two drops of
ink refill on a stamp block, add one or two drops water to ink and mix. Using a
back and forth (horizontally) sweep brush across top half of the white circle. Set
aside to fully dry.
3. Cut a scrap
of white cardstock slightly larger than the three seagulls die. Color with the
Basic Gray watercolor pencil and blend with water. Set aside to fully dry.
4. Die cut two
small and one large cloud for die set and emboss putting on the cloud portions
of the Stylish Sailing embossing folder (they do not Match) and emboss using
the Stamp cut and emboss machine and the gray specialty plate.
5. Die cut two
small and 1 larger sail boats and sails out of water color paper. Use Pecan pie
watercolor pencil to color boat and pole. No need to color the sail attached to
boat. Color the Sails die cuts with Balmy Blue ink and blend with water. I
colored darker around the outside edges of sails and lighter for the rest and
then blended. Set aside to dry.
6. Stamp
sentiment on small scrap of white cardstock,
trim close to the stamping.
7. Glue Pool Party
embossed water half circle to the bottom (uncolored) portion of your white
circle. Glue to card front tucking the largest cloud underneath at the top left
side. Pop using Stampin’ Dimensionals both small clouds.
8. Die cut
seagulls and add to card front first adding adhesive sheets to back side of
cardstock -making the sea gulls stickers. Add three seagulls to card front. I
put two of different cards and one on my water colored sky.
9. Glue small sailboat
to card front and pop the larger one. Glue sentiment strip to card front as
shown.
10. Water color
a small bit of water on the bottom right side of inside white panel and blend
with water. Glue small sail boat and glue to inside of card.
11. Stamp a few birds
from the stamp set on the bottom left side of envelope or on the back flap.
Your card is ready to send to a lucky recipient.
