Thankful garden Hydrangia, Thankful Garden dies and decorative masks, Birchwood embossing folder, sanding two tone paper

I love hydrangeas so I loved this stamp set as soon as I saw it. You can stamp the image (there are two different flowers), then color in with Stampin' Blends, Watercolor pencils, or ink pad and blender brush. Another option is use the coordinating masks and blending brushes like I did in the two cards pictured. The background is Pool Party two toned paper embossed with the Birchwood 3D embossing folder then lightly sanded to show the white core of our two toned paper.

Depending on how much ink you blend in you can get the softer or darker version. There are three different masks for the flower petals and two for the leaves making the shading a breeze.

For the inside of the card I added a small 1" piece of the embossed paper from the front of the card and an 1/4" strip of the Azure Afternoon cardstock to bring elements from the front of the card to the inside.

Supplies used

Stamps: Thankful Garden and Memorable Blooms

Ink: Momento Black, Balmy Blue, Azure Afternoon, Night of Navy, Shy Shamrock and Shaded Spruce

Paper: Night of Navy, Azure Afternoon and White card stock, Pool Party two toned paper

Accessories: Stamp, Cut and Emboss machine, Thankful Garden Dies and coordinating masks, Birchwood embossing folder and specialty plate, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Tombo liquid glue, Balmy Blue twine from the Baker’s twine three color pack, glue dot, Paper trimmer, Paper snips

Cutting instructions:

Night of Navy: card base 8 ½ x 5 ½” scored at 4 ¼”

Azure Afternoon: mat 5 ¼” 4, ¼” x 4 (inside)

Pool Party 2 tone: 5 1/8” x 3 7/8”

White: 4” x 5 ¼” (inside), 3 ¼” x 4 ¼” flower, scrap for sentiment

Assembly instructions:

1. Cut card base out of Night of Navy, score and fold. Add Azure Afternoon mat.

2. Cut both pieces of Pool Party two tone paper and emboss using the Birchwood 3D embossing folder and the specialty plate. Lightly sand to show white core. Glue to Azure mat.

3. Stamp hydrangea on white card stock using memento black ink. Use mask no. 1 to sponge with a blending brush with Balmy blue ink, marking notch to line up next masks. Use mask no. 2 to sponge Azure Afternoon, then Night of Navy (lightly)  with mask no. 3. Note: Be sure to start your sponging on the mask then move to opening, I prefer to sponge in a light circular motion.  Use Shy Shamrock on mask no. 4 and Shaded spruce (lightly)  with mask no. 5.

4. Stamp sentiment with Azure Afternoon ink on scrap white and trim down with trimmer or paper snips.

5. Add Stampin’ dimensionals to hydrangea and pop up on card, adding Tombo glue to bottom tip of stem. Glue sentiment on card with Tombo glue over top of a smidge on the bottom of the stem.

6. Tie a bow using bakers twine, Attach with a glue dot.

7. Stamp sentiment on white if desired and glue to inside of card. Add small embossed piece to bottom of white and add Azure strip right above embossed piece.

8. Emboss back flap of envelope and your card is ready to send.
