Umbrella days colored with Stampin Blends

I had to drive for 2 ½ hours in the rain last weekend to get home from Stampin’ Up! On Stage in Raleigh, North Carolina. Luckly the first half of my trip was clear skies. I had already decided to stop half way home around 10:30 am to get gas and stretch my legs. Right around my scheduled stop time it starting pouring so hard I could barely see, so I decided to get off at the next exit which happed to be the exit for Bucky’s. The only issue there is a billion (or so it seemed) other people had the same idea. I walked around a little bit, picked up some snacks and a really cute bunny mug, got gas and was back on the road. The rest of the trip had light to somewhat heavy rain, but not so bad my windshield wipers couldn’t handle it.

Enough about me. Let me tell you about my card, inspired by my trip home.  The sentiment says “The storm will end and the son will shine again”. The stamp set I used was the Umbrella days stamp and die bundle. I love that the dies also include clouds and a raincoat for the dog stamp. I also really love the stamp that makes the rain. I will be adding another card with this set soon so check back.

I love that this die set has a little rain coat or sweater for the dog stamp.

1. Cut card base out of Shy Shamrock, score and fold. Add Balmy Blue mat on both the card front and the inside.

2. On white scrap paper stamp using Momento Black the lady with the umbrella, the dog and just the umbrella from the lady and umbrella stamp. Color with Stampin’ Blends. I used the black Stampin’ Write marker for the bottom of her boots and Real Red for the dog’s collar.

3. Die cut lady with umbrella and the dog. Die cut two clouds from white scraps. Die cut umbrella handle from Crumb Cake scrap. Die cut dogs rain coat from scrap of Daffodil Delight. Fussy cut second umbrella (for inside).

4. Stamp sentiment on white scrap using shy Shamrock ink and fussy cut out.

5. Using a blending brush lightly rub ink on the one white panel (make sure to tap brush on scrap paper and blend from off the paper onto paper. Do not over ink.

6. Use blending brush to add heavier blue ink to bottom on panel for rain puddle.

7. Stamp rain on card front using Balmy Blue, stamp off on scratch paper each time to get a lighter color. Lightly sponge Balmy blue ink on the clouds, just to get a little ink on the edges for contrast.

8. Glue sentiment and clouds on card with Tombo glue. Add Stampin’ dimensionals to girl with umbrella and pop up on card. Add panel to card front.

9. Stamp sentiment on white if desired and glue to inside of card. Apply Balmy blue ink to inside panel, but go even lighter than the card front. Glue umbrella handle, umbrella and dog to bottom left side of white panel and glue to inside of the card.

10.Stamp dog on the bottom left side of your envelope or on the back flap. Your card is ready to send.
