Asian Artistry - convention 2009 card swap

Don't you just love this card??? This card was also done by my friend Donna, and although we collaborated on the design on both cards, she did all the work. Thank you Donna!
All supplies Stampin' Up!
Stamp Set: Asian Artistry (level 2 Hostess set)
Paper: Real Red and Basic Black card stock and So Saffron
Designer Series Paper (I don't know why all of a sudden I want to put So Saffron on everything. Check out this Red and Saffron Asian Artistry project here: http://janetloves2stamp.blogspot.com/2009/07/this-is-for-convention-swap-i-am-in.html)

Autumn Days - Convention 2009 card swap

I am so blessed! This is a card made by my dear friend Donna Olson. She made 50 of these for me to swap at convention. (I bribed her with a free stamp set). She did an awesome job didn't she.

Supplies: (All Stampin' Up!)
Stamps: Autumn Days and Short & Sweet Stamp sets

Paper: Bravo Burgundy, Kraft, Very Vanilla, Close to Cocoa and Taken with Teal card stock.

Ink: Close to Cocoa Classic Ink, Close to Cocoa, Bravo Burgundy and Taken with Teal Stampin' Write Markers.

Accessories: Big Shot Die Cut Machine, Top Note Stampin' up! exclusive die, Modern Label punch, Large Oval punch, Burgundy 5/8" grosgrain ribbon.

She did not use dimensionals since she tacked the ribbon down only in the back and not on the front, the pheasant is lifted off the card a little bit already.

The inspiration for this card came from Christine Creations. Thank you Christine. You can view her card at: http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/photo/1381797?&cat=17299

How to make small card not slide in a larger envelope

This is the envelope for the Owl Together Now Faux Wood Frame card I just posted. This card is 4x4 yet I used a regular card envelope. Here is how I kept my card from sliding in the envelope. Using a 1" circle punch, punch through both the front and back of your envelope, approximately 1/8" from edge. Cut a piece of cardstock vellum 4" x 1 1/8" Place in envelope and either stamp image or with a pencil make marks for placement of image. Color as desired, I used Stampin' Up! watercolor pencils. Run adhesive on vellum below and above the owl, making sure not to get in the window area or at the very top. Place on sticker release paper. (I used the paper left after I pulled off my stickers and placed on my stamps) Place on release paper and put adhesive on back side also. Open envelope and place all the way down and as close to the side as possible, being careful not to let it stick until you have the correct palcement. Once you have placed properly rub on the front and back of envelope to make sure it is adheared properly. Now when you put in your card it will not slide because the portion of the envelope bigger than the card is glued closed with the vellum, and you get a nice addition to the outside of the envelope, that can be seen from both the front and the back. I am sorry that I cannot remember who I saw this idea from to give credit.

Faux Wood Frame tutorial with Owl Together Now

Create a faux wood look by rubbing ink over your cardstock.
Supplies: All Stampin' Up!
Paper: Very Vanilla cardstock
Ink: Creamy Caramel, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip classic ink pads and White Craft pad, Chocolate Chip marker
Accessories: Sizzix Big Shot, Sizzix Texture Plates kit #4, Texturz Impression pad, Texturz Silicone Rubber, Ruler, Stampin' sponges, Paper Cutter
Step by Step directions:
1. Apply Creamy Caramel ink starting at the top of Very Vanilla cardstock. Touch the edge of your ink pad to your pager and drag down in one direction. Cover all of the cardstock to create grain.
2. Repeat with Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip, and finally Whisper White craft ink
3. I usually put my shims on Tab One of the Multipurpose Platform and then add the Texture plate with inked cardstock face down, then I add the Silicone Rubber pad, and then the Texturz Impression pad. Feed this sandwich throught the Big Shot, and you get a beautiful, dimensional texture on top of all your woodgrain.
4. Using your Paper cutter, cut out the center leaving a 1/2" frame. My square was 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" so I place my paper on the cutter at the 2" line. Then using the measurements on the Acrylic blade guide, I cut from 1/2" to 2". I then rotate the paper 1/4 turn and repeat until I have completed all four side. (Note: The black cutting blade has notches on the side so you can place it at 1/2" and know that that is exactly where your cut is going to start.)
5. Using your Stampin' Sponges (I cut my in half, then in thirds, so I get 6 sponges from each sponge.) sponge Chocolate Chip ink over the embossed impression to emphasise. You are now ready to add your frame to your card.
Card supplies : Stamps: Owl Together Now. Paper: Very Vanilla and Chocolate Chip cardstock, Flock Together Now Designer Series Paper. Ink: Garden Green Classic ink pad and Chocolate Chip craft. Accessories: Stampin' Dimensionals, 1/4" Chocolate Chip grosgrain ribbon, Snail Adhesive, Clear embossing powder, Heat gun, Watercolor pencils, aquapainter, crystal effects plus supplies listed above for frame.
