How to make your own embossing plate

How do you like the embossed heart background??? It is so easy. All that was needed was the Heart to Heart punch, cardstock and glue. To make your embossing plate, punch (all three hearts) approximately 6 times and glue to a piece of cardstock. Now punch again until you have all your hearts with four layers. (I found the fourth layer made the impression more defined) The Big Shot sandwich I used was: (from bottom to top) Multrpurpose Platform on tab 2, Cutting pad, cardstock shim, Heart to Heart embossing plate (face up), cardstock you want to be embossed, another cardstock shim, Impressions Pad. Can you imagine the embossing plates you can make, butterflies, flowers, birds, snowflakes (you get the picture). Try it and let me know what you think. I want to thank Elaine at stampinreckon.blogspot.com for the great idea of making your own embossing folder.

Paper Lace card using Pinking Hearts Border Punch

I don't know if this technique is out there in cyber-land. I know I have not seen it. My friend Denise and I came up with it. We used a 1 1/2" x 5 1/4"  piece of card stock and punched all the way down both sides using the Pinking Hearts Border punch. This left an open area just big enough for the new Pretty in Pink 5/8" Satin Ribbon. If I have time tomorrow I am going to make this card again this time stamping the French Filigree stamp in Pretty in Pink instead of the Rose Red. That will give a more subtle design. I like this card, but am not sure if I would like it better with a softer background. We will be making this card at my next stamp camp, and actually I am giving the choice of this filigree background or the embossed hearts background on the second card. This is a fun technique, where you make your own embossing template. What do you think? Can you imagine how many different embossed backgrounds you can make using any punch or die you already own??? The awesome sentiment is in one of our Sale-A-Bration stamp sets you can earn for free, (offer available only through March 31, 2010) contact me for more information or visit my Stampin' Up! web site for more information at http://www.stampinup.net/esuite/home/janetloves2stamp/promotions

Here is the inside of the card. Using the solid heart stamp from the I {Heart} Hearts stamp set inked with Pretty In Pink, I used the kissing technique applied the French Filagree background stamp (inked in Rose Red) to the inked solid heart stamp, transfering the design from the French Filigree to the heart. The heart was then stamped on Whisper White and sponged using Rose Red ink. I thought it would be fun to bring a little taste of the front of the card to the inside. Looking back I wish I had put the hearts in the center and stamped the Love you in the lower of the two hearts. (maybe I'll try that tomorrow). I hope you enjoyed my creation.

Love Banner

This banner is so fast and easy to make with your Big Shot Die Cut Machine.
I used the Bride Designer Series Paper, that has a really nice shine to it. Then I sprayed the brown scallop, red mat, letters, heart and Scallop with Champagne Simmer Paint mixed with Alcohol. The result is really nice. I wish you could see the shimmer in the picture. Althought we are making this in my Valentine stamp camp, it could hang up all year long. I will be adding a metal key ring or a sprial paper clip o the ribbon, so that you can hang it from a nail, or picture hook.

I cased this project from the pink and black banner (on the right) that I made when I was in a Late Night Stampers shoe box swap in Phoenix earlier this month. I do not know the name of the Demonstrator that brought this project, so if you know who it is let me know, so I can thank her by name in this post.

Love Bandit Tri-Shutter Card

This is another card we will be making in my next stamp camp. You can easily just change the sentiments from Valentine to birthday, thank you, get well or whatever you need. I love this card fold. Denise and I modified it so that we could use a 8 1/2" x 11" instead of a 12 x 12 piece of card stock. The card is still 5 1/2" tall, it is just not the full 4 1/4" when closed, but still fits into the A-2 (medium) envelope. The sparkle of the new "Sending Love Specialty Designer Series Paper doesn't show well in this scan. You really need to see this paper. It is a must have! You need to order this paper right away, as it is only available until April 30, 2010. I tried to, but obviously failed, to resist the Love Bandit stamp set. They are sooooo cute, I just love them, and I am now so glad I did get them. They are also in the Occasions Mini Catalog, so only available until April 30, 2010. You have the option of a wood mount or clear mount set. If you have note tried the Stampin' Up! clear mount blocks you are in for a real treat. I just love them. They are 3/4" grooved, making it so easy and comfortable to use. You can order our clear- mount blocks separately or as a bundle with over a 10% savings. For more check out the 2010 Occasions mini catalog at: http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ItemList.aspx?categoryID=401

I {Heart} Hearts friend or Valentines Day card

This is one of the cards we will be making at my next stamp camps on January 28th and January 30th. You cannot tell in the picture, but this card has a wonderful shimmer to it. I put a few drops of Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint in a Spritzer bottle (and old Stampin' Mist bottle works great) and added alcohol, shake and spritz. Now my embossed panel has Shimmmer!. I  put a drop of Frost White Shimmer paint and a drop of Rich Razzleberry classic reinker onto an paint pallette, mixed using a spong dauber, then using the dauber, I inked my heart stamp. That gives my heart a really nice shimmer also. Oh, how I love my Shimmer Paint!!!  On the inside of the card, I inked my heart in Rich Razzleberry, then stamped off twice, before stamping in my card, to give me a faint heart, that I could add my sentiment to. I also sponged my Scallop Border. The Scallop Border punch has become my favorite punch. I love using it with and without the Scallop Corner punch

If you are not in the need for a Valentine or Love card, you can take this same card and just by changing the sentiment make a wonderful birthday card for a friend. Denise made this card the same as I did my above, but replaced the 3 Little words stamp sets, with Well Scripted. She used the friend stamp from the With All My Heart stamp set. You could also replace the heart with one of the images from With All My Heart and have a great card.

I want to Thank Jaycene Morgan for the inspiration for this card. Here is the swap card I received from here while we were at Leadership training.
Jaycene used Soft Suede cardstock and ribbon and a sentiment from the Baroque Motifs stamp set. She also used the Pinking Hearts border punch. I love her card, it is so elegant. I added the shimmer paint to my card, which she did not use. This card looks great both ways, don't you agree?

Medallion Background Smoosh Resist technique

I am in a tech-nique swap and I made this card. I cannot decide if I like it best with or without the ribbon. What do you think?

You cannot tell in the pictures, but the circle in the center of the medallion is cut out and popped with dimensionals.

All Supplies Stampin' Up!

Stamps: Medallion background
Paper: Glossy white, Whisper White, Close to Cocoa and Real Red
Ink: Close to cocoa classic, VersaMark
Accessories: Real Red, Close to Cocoa and Pretty in Pink reinkers, Clear embossing powder, Heat tool, Paper Piercer, Mat Pack, Scallop Trim border punch, Fire circles rhinestone brads, window sheets, Stampin' Dimensionals, Stampin' sponges, Kraft taffeta ribbon (on second card), empty Stampin' Mist bottle (for water)

Technique: Stamp medallion twice with VersaMark on Glossy white paper. Emboss with Clear embossing powder. Put several drops of the reinkers on the window sheet and spritz with water. Lay second window sheet on top and smooch color together. Do not over smooch as the colors will get muddy. Lay stamped glossy papers, back to back between the two window sheets, and gently rub. Heat dry or allow to dry overnight.

Valentines Day Card featuring the Heart of Hearts embosslit die and Sending Love Speciality Designer Series Paper

This is the front of the card. The top version has been sprayed with a mixture of Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint and Alcohol. The bottom was inked with VersaMark and then embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing power. You cannot tell the in the scan, but the Sending Love Specialty Designer Series Paper has a glittery design. I haven't figured out which heart I like best, probably the top, more subtle shimmer. What do you think?

This is what the card looks like once it is opened.

MDS- My Guys Scrapbook page 2

Top page is done in My Digital Studio.
It is really cool to play with the layout in MDS before you actually make the page, so you can make any changes without wasting paper, or having to rip apart and restamp. I could have just had the MDS version printed, but I need pages to take tomorrow to Leadership Training in Phoenix. I hope you enjoyed seeing the MDS and traditional scrapbooking layouts. I cannot believe how much I love using the MDS
MDS- My Guys Scrapbook page1

The page on top is the MDS version, below is the page I made the traditional way, I made the following a few changes: added the sanded background to the bottom panel and the Gable Green letters, added a library clip to the stamped image, made the green panel at the bottom four inches tall instead of three, and used Stampin' Dimensionals on the Gable Green letters and the Authentic label.
In the photo the sanded background does not show up well, I quess because of the flash, but you can see it good on the letters. Thanks for looking.
