Striped Scallop in Coastal Cabana

I have been busy making cards but failing to post them, so you will want to check back every day for the next week, maybe two, as I will be posting a card a day until caught up.

I love the new Striped Scallop Die. I have seen a lot of samples tone on tone, and even though I love that look I wanted the die to really pop, so I used two coordinating colors. I still am enjoying playing with my Blendabilities. When you use alcohol markers don't get frustrated if you don't get exactly what you want. You just need to play with them until you are able to get the effect you want. They also take a while to dry, so you don't really see the finished effect for awhile. I always teach that you never have a mistake on a card, just a plan "B", so when I got some speckles on my card, I just added more, so they looked like they belonged. On this particular card I did not blend as much as I normally do choosing to have more definition in the color changes.  I am quite pleased with the results. This card would be good for almost any occasion.

Blended Bloom colored with Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie Blendabilities

Here is another Blended Bloom card I promised a week or so ago. I got waylaid with the masculine cards for Fathers Day, but today I had time to sneak this one in.

If you have never played with Alcohol markers before the Blended Bloom stamp is a great one to get. I has nice big areas for you to pay and experiment with. I love the simplicity of this card. Just stamp, ink paper, but I did pop up the flower. The border from the Summer Silhouettes was just enough to give the card some color but not overpower the flower.

Thank you for stopping by. Happy Stampin'

Wetlands and background using the Simply Scored diagonal plate

Another Wetlands card. Once I started using that stamp set I could not stop. I have always loved the little Sandpipers at the beach. They are so entertaining to watch as the run towards the ocean as the waves go out and back towards the beach as the waves come in.

I have been playing around a lot with my Blender Pen and the Aqua Painter. I tend to prefer the Aqua Painter, but learned the Blender pen works much better on the birds body and coloring the center panel. I tried the Blender pen on the water, and the Aqua Painter wins hands down there.

Using the Simply Scored with the measurements on both the top and side, made scoring this card using the Diagonal plate super easy. A great tip is to rub your card stock with wax paper first. It makes the scoring much easier. I will be making some more scored cards, so check back. If you subscribe or follow my blog it is easier to know when I have a new post. Now, get out your Simply Scored and Diagonal plate and start having fun. I you do not have one, simply click the Shop Now button and you can have one sent right to your doorstop from by Stampin' Up! website. Thanks for stopping by. Happy Stampin'

You make the world a better place with Traveler globe

Another Masculine card to celebrate Fathers day. This card features the globe from the new Travelers set, the World Map and sentiment from Starburst sayings. I love that with stamping up everything coordinates so when I stamp world on Cherry Cobbler paper it perfectly matches the Cherry Cobbler ribbon strip and splats on the card. The map was sponged Baked Brown Sugar and Daffodil Delight. the globe was masked then the world map was stamped on top of it. The Globe was colored using the new Stampin' Up! Blendabilities alcohol markers.

Man's suit card

He is another Fathers Day inspired card. Even thought the suit card has been around awhile, I loved this card with the sweater vest instead of just a shirt. I thought the new Arrow Textured Impressions embossing folder and the Chevron paper look great together. The Candy dots are also great because they are so easy to use. The bow tie is made by punching out two pieces from the large Oval punch, and folding in half, do not crease the end as you want it rounded. Attach the two pieces to a small scrap of paper. Cut a small rectangle of matching paper and wrap around the two ends.

Woodlands with sponged background

I love the Woodlands stamp set for masculine and beach cards. This card is fast and easy. I colored the grasses with the Blender pen and ink from the lid of a ink pad. I used the same technique except with the Aqua Painter for the Goose. The background is sponged with three separate blue ink and then the Candy Dots were added.

This week I will be posting masculine cards since Father's Day is fast approaching. Besides Father's Day you can also use them for Birthday, Thinking of You, Miss you or any other occasion you have to give a man a card. I love the old time vintage feel of this card. I think I am going to try it with the Burlap ribbon instead of mesh. I will add that picture at the bottom of this post later.

I really wanted to use the Square Lattice die, but could not find mine so I used and non su subititution. I cannot wait until june 2nd so I can order some of the new embossing folders. Stampin' Up! color chart June 2014

Here is a new color chart I made using Microsoft word. The flowers are the new in colors.

Wednesday, May 21, 2014

For some reason I just have to use the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set on every other card I make lately.  I just love the splatter stamps, although I would leave off he splatter where the sentiment goes. Lately it seems that I also am into coloring my sentiments with my markers. I also have a lot of washi tape and decided I need to use some, so I can by the new that will be coming out June 2nd, when the new catalog starts. I also realized that I could have put the 15th between the Happy and Anniversary and given this to my husband in August when we celebrate our anniversary. Don't you love the Jumbo pearls on this card. They are retiring, so if you want some you need to get them before the end of the month. At first I didn't think I would like them, but they look great on this flower. You could also use 3 small ones, if you don't have the large ones. Also the little punch that I used on the inside flower is retired, but a new set is coming in the new catalog. Thank you for stopping by. If you are ever in the Charleston, Summerville area of South Carolina, stop by and see me. Until then, happy stampin'

Stampin' Up! new Blendabilities (alcohol markers)

I just got my Blendabilities in. I absolutely love, love, love them! They are more affordable than the other alcohol markers out there, they have a square cap so they don't roll off the table, and they come in the fabulous Stampin' Up! colors, so you can get paper, ribbon, ink pads to match. They come in a set of three, so you don't have to try and figure out which markers to blend with. We also have a awesome colorless blender to with them. The set of six skin tone colors is a definite must have. If you never used alcohol markers before, come try them. Blending with them is awesome. I used them on the shell and starfish. I also changed the top of the watercolored section to coral and yellow, instead of the coral and strawberry.

I have the supply list in the studio. I will add it to this post tomorrow. Until then, Happy Stampin'

Everything Eleanor with Lattice
This uses another one of my favorite dies the Lattice Bigz Die. This time it was used as a mask instead of using the cute out die on the card. I actually cut it twice, cut the second in half and using the snail adhered both pieces to the card. Then using a Stampin' Sponge, sponged color onto the Whisper White card stock.
My helper, Lisa chose to color her flower Sky Blue, so I had her add a Sky Blue Panel and Ribbon.

All Supplies Stampin' Up!
Stamps: Everything Eleanor, Blooming with Kindness (Flowering Flourishes)
Ink: Wisteria Wonder, Sky Blue and So Saffron Stampin' Write markers, Wisteria Wonder classic ink pad.
Paper: Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White, (Sky Blue card#2) card stock.
Accessories: Big Shot die cutting machine, Lattice die (retiring), White Organza Ribbon, (Soft Sky Seam binding ribbon card #2), Stampin' Sponges and Stampin' Dimensionals.

Clockworks Masculine Card
inside

I have always loved this stamp set and when I saw it on the retired list I knew I had to make a card using it for this months stamp camp, and with Father's Day just around the corner it was a perfect choice. I want to thank my friend, Lisa for helping me with the samples. Our cards are similar but she used the Chevron embossing folder and a different sentiment. I always like to have a Father's Day card for those who need it with an option to make it non Father's Day for those who don't. I love the sentiment on the second card because it could be used for Father's Day or a Birthday. Please overlook the fact that our sentiments might now be perfectly straight, we were rushed when we made these samples.

Blessed Easter
This is the second project for this months stamp camp. This card was designed by my helper Kathy and myself. This is the first time I have used the Pewter embossing powder and I LOVE IT!. I have never like to use black on flowers. I like Basic Gray, but it is Pewter for now on. This is a fast and easy card. I love to watercolor. These turned out fabulously even using the Very Vanilla card stock instead of watercolor paper. When you are not using watercolor paper, the trick is to make sure your brush tip is not to wet. I think I would have like this a little better if I had stamped off before stamping the En Francais background. The second card uses a different background. and on the inside Kathy choose to stamp the flowers in soft suede, not embossed. Our color scheme came from the color in the Retro Fresh Designer Series Paper pack.

Secret Garden Birthday and
Get Well Pop Up Boxes

This pop up card box is one of the projects for my March "Spring" Stamp Camp. My friend, Karla, and I had so much fun making these boxes. I think it would be great to take this little box bouquet to someone sick, home or in the hospital. No watering needed. These boxes also fold up and fit in a A2, invitation size envelope.  I choose the Secret Garden stamp set because we have Framelit dies to match. I went with the colors in the Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper. I will add a post next week with the instructions to make the box.

Hexagon Hive, Petite Petals
and Perfect Pennants
This is my favorite of the three cards for this months Stamp Camp. I do not use Sahara Sand much, but it was the perfect color for this card. Once I got out my Hexagon Hive Thinlits Die and played with it, I realized it didn't cut out all the hexagons. So I went out to see what others were doing with this die. When I found a card that had polka dot DSP with the coordination card stock, I fell in love. I will get the link for this card and post it here tomorrow. After completing the front, I decided that I would use my cut out pieces on the inside of the card. I am very happy with the way it turned out.

Happy Watercolor, Off the Grid

I love stamp sets that have stamps that add interesting background stamps. Happy Watercolor not only has cool dots, splotches, but beautiful flowers. I want to do this card again using the Monster Maniacs instead of the flower, I think this background will go great with that set. I have it coming in soon, so watch for that post. I also learned that to get a really good two tone on the splotch the new ink pads work better. The grid and dots are stamped off first, so give a softer image. I stamped the flower in Gumball Green and Midnight Muse using the ink pads, stamping the flower twice. I gave the outside flower time to dry before I water colored it in using the Aqua painter. I ruffled the ribbon and attached it to sticky strip, then added Stampin' Dimensionals, double layered on the other side. On the inside of the card I chose not to stamp off with the grid stamp.

Dress Up and Your Lovely Label Pop 'n Cuts
Featuring the Your Lovely stamp set and the
Sweet Sorbet DSP from the Sale-a-bration catalog

Jenifer Hill- Underwood and I designed this card for my upcoming February stamp camp. I was determined to use the Label Pop 'n Cuts on the inside and the my helper Jeni  wanted to use the DSP you can get Free during Sale-a-bration. Jeni  wanted the black pattern used on the dress (don't you love the Pistachio trim on the bottom of the dress?) I choose the Crisp Cantaloupe pattern on the inside. Jeni is a seamstress so she wanted to use the Dress Up Framelits . So We used the Dress Up Framelits on the front and the Label Pop 'n Cuts on the inside.  We also used the Your Lovely stamp set also from the Sale-a-bration brochure. Although designing the card was a bit of a challenge, I am quite please with how it turned out.

Here is the inside showing the Card Base and Label Pop 'n' Cuts Die. If you look closely you can see the Modern Mosaic embossing behind the stamped image.
